Marc enjoyed watching The Dukes of Hazard and A-Team when
he was a kid. Marc now prefers to watch ER. Some of
Marc's favourite movies are: A Few Good Men, Top Gun, Usual Suspects,
Scarface, and Rocky. "Any inspirational underdog movie hits a nerve.
I'm a sap, too. I'll sit and cry at Rambo. I'm such
a wimp, it's ridiculous," Marc comments. His favourite novel is Where
the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawis (Note: This book is amazing! --
Crimson). His senior team at high school was even ranked by USA today.
Marc graduated high school (1990) and received a full athletic scholarship
to Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem North Carolina. He played
profession college basketball all through his college years. Later
he tried out for the NBA, but unfortunately didn't make it. After
he went to collage he played for the Manchester Giants in Europe, for 1
year.
Marc originally thought that he wanted to become a lawyer after seeing
the movie A Few Good Men. Soon before he was going to take
the entrance exam to law school, he figured out that he didn't really want
to be a lawyer, he wanted to become and actor.
Marc's
first acting job was in the movie Eddie (1996), starring Whoopi
Goldberg. The producers needed a baby faced kid that could play basketball;
this is where Marc came in. He played a benched Knicks player, who
had all of 1 or 2 lines in the movie. His next role was in the 1998
movie Pleasantville, with Toby Maguire and Reese Witherspoon, where he
was credited as the Basketball Hero. Marc also did a great deal of
the basketball coreography in this movie. In the 1999 mini-series
The
60's Marc portrayed Buddy, in this drama series starring Jerry O'Connell.
Also in 1999 he guest starred in the series "Undressed" and played the
part of Billy in the movie entitled The Mating Habits of the Earthbound
Human.
Marc's breakthrough performance is when he was cast as Riley Finn
in the season four premiere of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Marc
appeared in the episodes: The Freshman, Fear Itself, Beer Bad, Wild at
Heart, The Initiative, Pangs, Something Blue, and Hush before he became
a regular in the series starting with 'Doomed'. Marc Blucas continued
to play Riley up until the 10th episode of season five. This
may not be the last of Mr. Riley Finn a.k.a. Marc Blucas. He is expected
to make an appearance in the season finale of season five.
Mr. Blucas filmed a movie titled Catch (formerly Summer Catch),
which also stars Christain Kane, Lindsey from Angel. The movie's
scheduled release date is 2001. The following description of the
movie is courtesy of IMDB: A rich girl whose family summers on Cape Cod
has a romance with a local poor boy who hopes to become a major league
baseball player (Believed to be Marc.).
Don't worry fellow Marc fans there is plenty more of him to come, even
though he has departed from Buffy. Along with Summer Catch, Marc
is currendly working on a movie with Gweneth Paltrow, where he plays the
male lead in this romantic comedy entitled A View from the Top.
On IMDB the movie is described as A small-town woman tries to achieve her
goal of becoming a flight attendant. It's tentative release date
is sometime in the year 2001.
Marc is extremely thankful for his success and he believes that he is very
lucky. Marc appreciates his fans so much he even sends back autographed
pictures when you write to him. "Marc is the sweetest guy." says
Little Willow. Many of the fans who have met Marc, at the Buffy Posting
Board Party 2000, agree with Little Willow. Marc seems like a fantastic
guy who is on the rise to stardom. |
